After a length Christmas and winter break, training is back on. We will be training at the Meyrin pitch every Tuesday and Thursday from 7pm-9pm.

We went into the winter break having suffered another two losses:

RC CMSG 3 – Stade Lausanne 17

RC GePLO 17 – RC CMSG 3

1st team goes into the winter break in 6th position in LNA.

RC CMSG II 0 – Stade Lausanne II 59

RC GePLO II 22 – RC CMSG II 5

2nd team goes into the winter break in 6th position in 1ère ligue.

We now break until early march, although we will have some friendly games in February.

Christmas part is on sat 12th of December!

RC CMSG 10 – Hermance RRC 28

Despite leading throughout the first half and being 10-6 up at half-time, RC CMSG didn’t survive a second half fight back from second placed HRRC, who ended up beating the locals 28-10. We now have a two week break before hosting league leaders Stade Lausanne on the 7th of November in St Genis.

A very big bonus point win at home last saturday for RC CMSG. The locals took the game to the Swiss Germans, and after scoring first never looked back. A strong pack and solid defense means that CMSG can look to next weekend’s derby clash with Hermance with high hopes of beating them for the first time in 10 years.

RC CMSG 25 – RC Nyon 10

1st victory of the season for RC CMSG. In our new playing kit, Rugby Club CERN Meyrin St Genis pulled off an impressive victory over local rivals Nyon, scoring 3 tries in the process. A tough game, played in scorching september sunshine, allowed RC CMSG to jump up the league table. Next week: RC Yverdon away.

Stade Lausanne 14 – RC CMSG 3

CMSG’s woes continue with an away defeat to Stade Lausanne, last year’s cup winners.
The game was locked 3-3 at half time, but a catastrophic start to the second half allowed Stade to score, and CMSG was unable to catch up… The 2nd team also lost to Stade’s 2nd string.
Next sunday we play RC Nyon, who have lost all their games so far and will be looking to put points on the board. Time for CMSG to front up!

19.09.09: Bern V. Wildcats

Our second match of the season. Our second away game – but our first WIN!!! We arrived in Bern all eager and feeling positive – in spite of the fact that as we went out to warm up it started to rain! That got us into the rugby mode quite quickly. Before kick-off we were already wet and a bit muddy! We started this match with a real detemination to prove ourselves. We were putting on some good pressure and our attacking play was solid and well supported. Our first try came as a result of an overlap on the wing. Bern weren’t going to make it easy though. They stepped up the pressure and their attacking line became faster and stronger. They managed to get through for a first try. Not to be put off we digged deeper and came up with the results. A series of tries in the first half, including Leila scoring her 1st ever (followed by 2 more in the game later on)! Half-time score and we were leading comfortably 5-29. After all that hardword, we were determined not to let them back in. Still, they didn’t want to go down without a fight. Midway through the second half and they were a player down through injury. We decided to keep the game interesting and loan them a player. As a result, their game seemed to improve! We scored a couple more as did they but we held on firm and came out victorious. Final score 17-43! Well done Wildcats. A thoroughly deserved win!

RC CMSG 8 – RC Genève PLO 10

A second defeat for RC CMSG, showed a large improvement on last week’s game. In fact, the team ran the Swiss champions very close, and could have pulled it off if it wasn’t for a number of missed penalty opportunities.
Next weekend, the team take on Stade Lausanne in Lausanne (2pm saturday 19th September, 2nd team game at 12.30)

RC Bern 32 RC CMSG 17

First game of the season, first game back in LNA. We lost 32-17, although we scored three tries to two. A lot of work to be done to prepare for RC Geneva PLO next week!
