RC CMSG 8 – RC Genève PLO 10
→ September 13, 2009 by Beren
A second defeat for RC CMSG, showed a large improvement on last week’s game. In fact, the team ran the Swiss champions very close, and could have pulled it off if it wasn’t for a number of missed penalty opportunities.
Next weekend, the team take on Stade Lausanne in Lausanne (2pm saturday 19th September, 2nd team game at 12.30)

More than ran them close, 15 minutes in we were dominating the scrum and open play. Defence of their rolling maul was excellent though still far too many penalties at the breakdown with people charging in from offside and hands in the ruck. Certainly an improvement on the match against Bern with the guys seeming to be alot more fired up for the physical aspect of the game, and alot more commitment to a tight defence.
Saturday’s match against Stade will be an entirely different affair, reportedly a solid tight 8 having put Hermance to the sword a week ago will be no easy match. We tried to move this match for 2 months but Stade didn’t budge, but the threat of Matt’s stag do obliterating the team effective hasn’t come to pass, and the team will go with only one or two changes to the team that nearly beat the Swiss Champions last week. With the return of a couple guys away for injury last week and couple of the big lads who helped win the second division championship last year, could an upset be on the cards?
