Rugby Club CERN – Meyrin – Saint-Genis

RC CMSG Seniors went into the winter break leading the LNB on all fronts. Not only did we win our last two home games (V Neuchâtel 33-5 – 5 tries, and V Fribourg 50-6 – 8 tries), we picked up bonus points in both, and fielded a second team for the first time V Fribourg (who also won by 8 tries to 2). A great achievement, we are hoping to repeat this as soon as possible!
This start of season was very promising and we’re looking forward to building on this momentum when the league restarts on March 21st 2009 (at home v Basel at 3pm). In between now and then we will be practicing outdoors until Christmas, with a small beak for new year, and then into the gym for a month in January. We will have a couple of practice games against French and Swiss teams scheduled for late February, early March.

On the statistics front, the league table says it all (http://www.rugby.ch/index.php?id=65):

• Played 9 games, Won 8, Lost 1
• 5 offensive bonus points scored, 1 defensive bonus taken
• 53 tries scored (More than double anyone else in LNB), 9 tries against
• 348 points scored, 77 against
• Total LNB points: 38
