Wildcats 2011-12 season – Act 1

August 2011 : A deserted Meyrin Sports Centre, sport has been replaced by the summer holidays…. But who is that over there? A group of women bonded together by a passion for rugby…The wildcats are motivated and ready for a promising season together.
After a difficult year for the RC CMSG women Rugby team, hit by injury and a lack of players, the Wildcats are glad to welcome some new and talented players!!! They will complement an existing solid core of experienced players.
Thanks to a great coach and positive trainings sessions, good results soon show and a new team is being built step by step!! The first victory against the Basel Birds, encourages everybody! But the best is yet to come!! At Neuchatel, the Wildcats are facing a well-motivated and powerful team. The game is hard but after several wonderful tries, transformations and scrums, the Wildcats achieve a resounding victory and are overjoyed with their game. The coach is ecstatic!!!!
The Wildcats have a home match against the Luzern Dangels. We play hard, but we lose to a strong team. A close match the next week narrowly won by the Bern Red Devils. Let’s forget those previous 2 games and congratulate the Wildcats for their great victory in Konstanz. It is a really close game; two teams at a similar level, defending furiously. Only one try scored from each team, but the Wildcats transformed theirs to win by 2 points. A victory 7-5; happily celebrated at the Clubhouse.
Saturday, October 22th: Last game of the championship before the winter break. An opportunity for the Wildcats to show what they can do. Last year we forfeited against Zurich because of a lack of players. Today, the Wildcats face Zurich with 17 players on their side!!! They play the highest level of rugby seen for a long time, leading the game and the score by playing with real team spirit and a lot of motivation. A large crowd of supporters were impressed by the standard of play and the Wildcats spirit certainly surprised the Zurich team. Unfortunately a try scored during the last minute by Zurich gave them a 3 point win. Despite the result, the girls of the RC CMSG are happy about the final result which augurs well for the second part of the season!!!
Wild celebrations followed once more at the club house!!!
Never forget this: the Wildcats are not only a team but a family made of friends and women who love being together, help each other, train and party TOGETHER!!!!
The Wildcats have arrived so watch out!!!

Big defeat in Nyon

RC CMSG lost both games on sunday to a rampaging Nyon side, lightyears away from what they showed last season.

RC CMSG now have to pick ourselves back up for the visit of Yverdon on saturday in St Genis.

2nds game kick off at 13.30, and 1st team at 3pm.

RC CMSG QUALIFIES FOR THE LNA PLAY-OFFS!

On sunday, RC CMSG went to Hermance RRC looking to cement a place in the LNA playoffs. A sprited side that wasn’t dampened by the very wet weather…

The team started well, and scored first, but Hermance came back with a converted try to lead 7-3 at the break. In the second half, superb handling by the CERN backs in these dire conditions finally lead to a try, converted from the touchline. Hermance came back to 10-10, before CMSG again took the lead 5 minutes from time with another penalty. A final surge by the Hermance forwards lead to a last minute penalty for them, tying up the final score at 13-13.

The second teams also drew 7-7 ending both the day’s games in a stalemate.
A one point Zurich win over Yverdon means that RC CMSG will play Genève PLO away in the first round of the playoffs on the 5th of June. (Mark the date!)

The second team’s last home game of the season will take place this saturday 8th of May at 3pm v ARYA (Alpine Rugby Yoga Association).

The first team will play away in Avusy in the cup next saturday (15th May @ 3pm).

RC CMSG into Swiss Cup 1/4 finals

RC CMSG pulled off a convincing victory against RC BERN on saturday, winning 31-7 and scoring 5 tries, taking us through the the quarter finals of the Swiss Cup! The draw for the next round takes place in April, and the next round of cup matches in May.

Next up is BERN again next saturday at home – this time in the league. Kick off is at 3pm at St Genis.

RC CMSG kick back into the season this weekend with the 1st round of the Swiss Cup. We play RC Bern on saturday 13th of March at 3pm at the St Genis pitch in the knockout competition.

RC CMSG 10 – Hermance RRC 28

Despite leading throughout the first half and being 10-6 up at half-time, RC CMSG didn’t survive a second half fight back from second placed HRRC, who ended up beating the locals 28-10. We now have a two week break before hosting league leaders Stade Lausanne on the 7th of November in St Genis.

Tuesday 18^th August: Training starts again – every Tuesday and Thursday at the St Genis pitch, 7-9pm until November.

Thursday 20^th August: After training, we will hold an IMPORTANT team meeting at the clubhouse in St Genis which all players MUST attend. We will talk about the coming season, objectives, and discuss a number of other issues. After the meeting we will have a big start of season barbecue.

Thursday 27^th August: Our first training game @ Home V Geneva Police – 7pm.

Saturday 29^th August: Our second pre-season warm up game @ Home V Lausanne Albaladejo – 3pm

Saturday 5^th September: 2^nd team away to ARYA (Valais)

Sunday 6^th September: 1^st team away to Bern – 1^st day of LNA – played on SUNDAY at Bern’s request.

Saturday 12^th September: 1^st & 2^nd teams @ Home to Geneva PLO

VICTORY, RC CMSG back in LNA!

RC CMSG won the LNB final on saturday 27.6.09, beating Lugano Rugby 24-15 in St Genis!
This means we will be back where we belong for the 2009-10 season – IN LNA!
Well done to all who acheived this great feat, losing only one league game all season!

On saturday, RC CMSG beat RC Neuchâtel 36-6 to reach our second successive LNB final.
The final will be played at home in St Genis on sat 27th June 09, at 3pm versus Lugano Rugby. Book the date!
In the opening game, RC CMSG II defeated LUC Rugby by 5 tries to 3. Well done too all the old and new timers who turned out!
